About the position
DFINITY is seeking experienced and aspiring systems software developers with backgrounds in operating systems, networking, databases, security, virtualization, or other related fields to help solve interesting problems at the intersection of security, scalability, performance, and ease of use. The role involves building a scalable, secure, and deterministic application runtime, installation, upgrade, and monitoring of software across adversarial networks, monitoring and reasoning about the behavior of a network containing adversarial nodes, and automating all operations of the network. The company values practical experience and a passion for building quality production systems software and tools, as well as teamwork and open-mindedness.
Responsibilities
- Building a scalable, secure, and deterministic application runtime
- Installation, upgrade, and monitoring of software across adversarial networks
- Monitoring and reasoning about the behavior of a network containing adversarial nodes
- Automating all operations of the network to allow it to run "lights out", not requiring human interventions
- Experience shipping significant software systems or tooling as part of a medium to large organization
- A deep understanding of at least one systems software language, like C, C++, or Rust
- Experience deploying and operating systems that run 24x7x365 and building the monitoring, alarming, and tooling required to keep them healthy
- Experience building systems that software developers and end-users love
- Passion for building quality production systems software and tools
- Team player who enjoys working alongside other brilliant people to come up with the best solutions together
- Curiosity and open-mindedness are critical.
Requirements
- Experience in operating systems, networking, databases, security, virtualization, or related fields
- Ability to build scalable, secure, and deterministic application runtime
- Knowledge of installation, upgrade, and monitoring of software across adversarial networks
- Understanding of monitoring and reasoning about the behavior of a network with adversarial nodes
- Proficiency in at least one systems software language such as C, C++, or Rust
- Experience in deploying and operating systems that run 24x7x365
- Ability to build monitoring, alarming, and tooling for system health
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or closely related field
- Passion for building quality production systems software and tools
- Ability to work well in a team and collaborate with others
