Software Engineer, Starlink Enterprise Products (Space Lasers)

About The Position

As a member of the Enterprise Products Software team, you'll own software for bring-up and operation of new Starlink products including: Plaser, our space laser product which connects third-party vehicles to the Starlink constellation; Community Gateway, our terrestrial very high throughput parabolic antenna; Starlink Aviation, enabling tens of millions of passengers to experience Starlink worldwide; and more to-be-launched products that leverage Starlink in new industries. You'll drive features at different layers of the stack, including embedded applications, backend systems, and user interfaces. Prior aerospace experience is not a requirement to be successful here - we're looking for ambitious engineers who thrive when they're diving deep on challenging, interdisciplinary problems. Our software engineers are responsible for the complete lifecycle of the software they create, including development, testing, and support. We expect our engineers to close the feedback loop between software design and real-world performance. In this role, your software will have a meaningful and measurable impact on the world.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, math, or other STEM discipline
  • 1+ year of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience is acceptable)

  • Demonstrated curiosity and willingness to question requirements and push technical boundaries
  • Experience with embedded systems
  • Experience launching and operating consumer or enterprise products

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement highly available, fault-tolerant devices that operate for long periods of time with minimal maintenance for millions of users
  • Participate in and lead architecture, design, and code reviews
  • Identify areas to improve the experience, reliability, and efficiency of the product
  • Develop prototypes and manage experiments to prove out key design concepts
  • Write quality linux based software for common processors and microcontrollers
  • Develop hardware-in-the-loop testbeds and testcases
