Space Protection Programs (SPP) is looking for a highly motivated individual to join the program area as a Staff Software Engineer to support the Command & Control / End-to-End Simulator development team. As part of an Agile team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of tasks in various areas across the mission and collaborate with the development teams, contractors, customers, and subject matter experts. Requirements

  • Experienced in software development using programming or scripting languages such as Java, JavaScript, C#, Python
  • Experience working in an Agile development environment, including tools such as Jira and Confluence
  • US citizenship is required to obtain a government security clearance
  • Possess a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in a technical or engineering discipline, or equivalent experience/combined education, with 5 years of professional experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experienced with Horizon software application providing command and control services for satellites, antennas, and ground hardware assets.
  • Previous Flight Software or Simulation Software Experience
  • Experience in application containerization (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, etc.) in a cloud environment (AWS/Azure/Openstack/Openshift)
  • Experience with GitLab CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with modern engineering practices such as Cross-Functional Agile teams and Capability-based planning
  • Active Top Secret security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Integrate/interface with FSW General C2
  • Manage Simulator Command and Control
  • Help to define the Simulator Command and Telemetry Database
  • Define/Update the Communication Drivers for this asset for proper command and telemetry handling
  • Work with the testbed team through integrating and testing
  • Maintain Horizon baseline (or even teach some of the testbed team members how to) and how to bring in product line updates
  • Serve as a software developer on an Agile team developing web applications in an open architecture infrastructure to serve an emerging area of protecting USG space assets.
  • Leverage industry standard open-source software solutions such as GitLab, Kubernetes, Docker, or similar platforms/products
  • Maintain Kubernetes clusters, create and automate deployment of containers using Helm, and support agile development teams by developing and maintaining tools, pipelines, scripts, and environments.
  • Participate in daily scrums, software sprint/release planning, demos, and retrospectives
  • Develop & demonstrate software capabilities to both internal and external partners
