About The Position

As a Software Engineer Sr within PNC's Asset Management Group organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Cleveland, OH, Dallas, TX, or Birmingham, AL. Due to the nature of this position we are seeking passionate Software Engineers. Candidates should have experience with the following: - Kafka-Based Event Streaming & Integration Support Design, develop, and support Kafka producers and consumers using Java (e.g., Spring Kafka) to enable reliable event-driven integrations between banking systems (payments, accounts, customer data, etc.). Ensure message integrity, ordering, and fault tolerance by properly configuring topics, partitions, schemas, retries, and error-handling strategies aligned with standard banking workflows. - Operational Stability, Governance & Compliance Support routine operations of Kafka usage by monitoring consumer lag, throughput, and failures, and assisting with incident triage and performance tuning. Apply banking-grade controls and standards such as secure data handling, schema governance, access controls (ACLs), and documentation to meet audit, risk, and compliance requirements. Requirements

  • Kafka-Based Event Streaming & Integration Support
  • Experience with Kafka producers and consumers using Java (e.g., Spring Kafka)
  • Experience ensuring message integrity, ordering, and fault tolerance
  • Experience monitoring consumer lag, throughput, and failures
  • Experience with incident triage and performance tuning
  • Experience applying banking-grade controls and standards such as secure data handling, schema governance, access controls (ACLs), and documentation
  • 3+ years of relevant / direct industry experience

Responsibilities
