About The Position

Mid Level Software Engineer–Simulation Company: The Boeing Company Are you an experienced cleared Mid Level Software Engineer eager to apply your technical skills to mission-critical virtual simulation and experimentation? Join Boeing’s Virtual Warfare Center (VWC) team located in Berkeley, MO and help build and extend the Virtual Interactive Simulation Environment (VISE) used in Operator‑in‑the‑Loop (OITL) real‑time experiments. This posting is tailored specifically for candidates who already hold U.S. government clearances. This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization Why this role is ideal for cleared candidates: Immediate ability to start contributing on classified programs with minimal onboarding delay Work supporting real-world warfighter experimentation, with frequent collaboration with government and industry partners Opportunity to obtain and work within Special Access Program (SAP) environments Stable, long-term mission focus and exposure to advanced modeling, communications protocols, and real‑time systems

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret U.S. security clearance (must be current)
  • Ability to obtain SAP clearances
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 3 years’ experience with Linux development environments
  • 3 years’ experience with C++ development
  • 3 years’ experience with Version control systems (Git or Subversion)
  • Experience with Agile SDLC

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 3 years of related work experience OR Bachelor’s Degree and 9+ years of directly related work experience OR 13+ years of related, relevant experience
  • Prior Operator‑in‑the‑Loop or Distributed Interactive Simulation (DIS) experience
  • Python scripting and automation skills
  • Experience managing multiple projects and working across cleared teams
  • Strong collaborator with a focus on mission success

Responsibilities

  • Develop, integrate, and maintain simulation software within the virtual simulation toolset to support OITL experiments
  • Model platforms, sensors/emitters, weapons, communications and tactical systems to meet customer needs
  • Collaborate with Boeing teams and cleared external partners to build and operate large federated simulations
  • Define requirements, author software designs and test plans, troubleshoot and validate experimental systems
  • Support contractual R&D and translate classified operational needs into executable simulation capabilities
