About The Position

Google's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies that change how billions of users connect, explore, and interact with information and one another. As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. The Health Platforms and Devices team builds innovative products and services that help our users live longer, healthier lives. We bring together the best of Google technologies and AI, health behavior science, and user-centered design to help users organize the health and wellness data, get insight from it, and take action toward their health goals. We do this with a suite of apps, services, and health wearables. We aim to make consumer health more personal, proactive, and actionable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in Python.
  • 2 years of experience working with embedded operating systems.
  • Experience in digital signal processing (DSP) algorithm development, implementation, and optimization.
  • Experience in analyzing large-scale datasets using database queries and scripting languages (e.g., SQL, Python, or R).

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in distributed Machine Learning and Machine Learning infrastructure, distributed systems and with Machine Learning algorithms at scale.
  • Proficient in C/C++ with experience in developing and implementing firmware and DSP algorithms on SOCs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop signal processing algorithms or firmware for health sensors.
  • Enhance signal processing and ML algorithms in order to filter noise and ensure accurate, efficient processing of data.
  • Collaborate with hardware engineering to ensure that firmware and algorithms are seamlessly integrated with the hardware architecture.
  • Design, develop, implement, and test software components that allow real-time signal processing and filtering, noise reduction, as well as data processing.
