Become a Krakenite and build the future of crypto! Proof of work The team The Blockchain Platform team is the connective tissue of Kraken's engineering organization. Every team that touches blockchain data depends on the infrastructure we build. We abstract away the complexity of dozens of different chain protocols, so that teams across Kraken can move fast without becoming blockchain experts themselves. We own the systems that handle node interactions, block ingestion & parsing, balance tracking, and on-chain data at scale. The work is technically demanding, the surface area is broad, and the impact is direct: if we do our job well, the rest of Kraken does theirs better. The opportunity Design and implement high-throughput, low-latency services and libraries in Rust and TypeScript Integrate our existing systems with exciting new blockchains Build and maintain the systems that process over 1.2 billion operations daily across 120+ chains Design data protection and access control systems where security is a first-class requirement Collaborate closely with product and infrastructure teams to define and deliver on their blockchain data needs Contribute to internal tooling, documentation, and standards that raise the bar for the whole org

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in asynchronous Rust
• Experience with high-volume, distributed systems
• Familiarity with API design, including GraphQL and gRPC
• Experience with Kafka or similar event streaming platforms
• Comfortable with core DevOps tooling such as Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines
• Passionate about security, reliability, and performance
• Considerate of tomorrow’s engineer: clean code, clear documentation, meaningful tests
• Comfortable with ambiguity and able to drive alignment across teams with different priorities
• Pragmatic – you know when to build the elegant solution and when to ship the working one

Nice To Haves

• Hands-on experience with multiple blockchain ecosystems
• Experience working with or contributing to open-source blockchain clients
• Familiarity with relational databases, logging & monitoring systems, and cloud-based infrastructure providers
