Software Engineer - Reference Data (Java/SQL)

We are looking for a seasoned engineer to build and maintain the system that produces essential reference data that is critical for most systems throughout Virtu: trading systems, quantitative research systems, and back office systems. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
- At least 5 years of enterprise-level, distributed systems experience in Java
- Strong understanding of relational databases (SQL, Oracle RDBMS)
- Interest in trading and financial markets
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience working within the financial services industry (exposure to trading systems is a plus)
- Experience working on large data with Python
- Knowledge of HBase, Hadoop, or other cloud storage
- Understanding of Linux environment
- Experience with SVN or Git
Responsibilities
- Aggregate, validate, enrich, and distribute big datasets from many big data vendors (Bloomberg, LSEG)
- Build, test, implement, and maintain various databases and API
- Architect custom software solutions for business stakeholders to improve daily management and evaluation of data across the firm
- Support large-scale migrations for global, multi-asset data
- Monitor day-to-day operation of the production system
- Perform proactive and reactive system maintenance
