About The Position
The Recommendations team is responsible for matching pet parents with the best care providers for their respective needs. This team works closely with analysts, designers, and data scientists to create, test, and release user-impacting marketplace features. Projects include improving and maintaining the technology behind the search platform (Elasticsearch), increasing match personalization and pet parent confidence, and providing engineering support to Data Science for algorithm and ML model innovation. The role is for an entry-level Software Engineer who will partner with senior engineers to build features from requirements to launch, focusing on both backend and frontend development within a marketplace business context. Requirements
- 1-4 years as a professional software developer
- Graduation from a formal computer science or engineering program
- Experience utilizing AI tools to drive both technical and non-technical workflows
- A solid foundation in professional software development practices and system design
- A strong communicator who can build consensus around technical approaches, address ambiguity with stakeholders, and effectively present information
- A high bar for code quality, automated testing, and engineering best practices

- Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis, without the need for current or future employer sponsorship for an employment-based visa status.
- Based in the Greater Seattle Area.

Responsibilities
- Break down requirements, build features, and see them through to launch.
- Partner closely with senior engineers.
- Contribute to both backend and frontend development.
- Work on scaling the company's platform.
- Address challenges of a marketplace business.
- Improve and maintain the technology behind the search platform, Elasticsearch.
- Increase match personalization and pet parent confidence through creative information collection and playback initiatives.
- Provide engineering support to Data Science as they innovate on the algorithm and ML models that support search.
