Software Engineer (New Grad)

Saris AIMontreal, QC
Onsite

About The Position

Saris AI is an applied AI startup with offices in San Francisco, Toronto, and Montreal, focused on building the future of work in the banking industry. We address complex automation problems requiring long-context reasoning, tool orchestration across legacy systems, and strict compliance loops. Our goal is to tackle challenges without known answers. We have successfully deployed AI agents handling real customer workflows in production and are experiencing rapid growth. We are seeking highly technical new-grad Software Engineers who are already proficient with agentic coding tools and eager to apply their skills to production systems from day one. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of building and shipping projects beyond academic requirements, such as advanced class projects, impactful internships, successful hackathons, or side projects with active users. Fluency with tools like Claude Code or Cursor is expected, along with strong opinions on their configuration. This role is based in our San Francisco, Toronto, or Montreal offices and requires in-person work.

Requirements

  • Completed an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Math, Physics, Statistics, or Applied Math.
  • Demonstrated building experience through internships, significant class projects, side projects with users, hackathon wins, or OSS contributions.
  • Strong fundamentals in Python (Django, Flask, or FastAPI) and/or TypeScript/React.
  • Comfort with PostgreSQL, Docker, and at least one cloud platform (AWS or GCP) with a working understanding of production-scale concepts.
  • Deep practical experience with agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, Cursor, Aider).
  • Willingness to work in-person in our San Francisco or Montreal office.

Nice To Haves

  • Shipped a side project with active users.
  • Contributed to an open-source agent framework, eval tool, or LLM-adjacent library.
  • Built end-to-end solutions involving multi-step LLM workflows, tool-calling, or eval loops.
  • Authored public content detailing the daily use of agentic tools.

Responsibilities

  • Build, test, and ship AI-powered features that handle real banking workflows in production.
  • Own features, components, and agent loops end-to-end.
  • Utilize agentic coding tools as the primary mode of work and contribute to defining best practices for AI-native engineering.
  • Develop a deep understanding of the regulated-finance domain.
  • Participate in code reviews, testing, and contribute to improving engineering practices.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation
  • Premium benefits
  • Equity package
