About The Position
VDS is recruiting an ML infrastructure engineer to build the training and data platform behind autonomous perception systems used across a defense-technology company. The role involves building and running training and dataset infrastructure, improving tools and SDKs for perception engineers, applying frontier models to data workflows, tracking training and evaluation activity, and partnering with engineering teams across business lines. It is a direct-hire, full-time position. U.S. Person status is required; Top Secret eligibility is desirable.
Requirements
- Strong modern Python skills.
- Experience with distributed training in TensorFlow or PyTorch.
- Experience with Kubernetes and workflow orchestration such as Flyte, Airflow, or Dagster.
- U.S. Person status is required.
Nice To Haves
- Some Rust experience, including PyO3.
- Experience with experiment tracking using Weights & Biases or MLflow.
- Top Secret eligibility.
Responsibilities
- Build and run training and dataset infrastructure, including multi-sensor data indexing.
- Improve tools and SDKs used by perception engineers.
- Use frontier models for data curation, labeling, synthetic data, and search.
- Track training jobs, evaluations, and model versions.
- Partner with engineering teams in each business line.
