About The Position

We are looking for a Software Engineer to help us enhance the content framework for the world's best-selling video game. You will join a team of engineers in Redmond responsible for critical technologies that enable game content creators to move faster, ship larger and more complex experiences, and enable our creator community to push the engine farther. Using your C++ expertise, you will partner with other teams across Minecraft to build out the game content pipeline to generate game-ready assets from source material. You will work on both pipeline services and core engine asset loading systems, allowing us to continue delighting millions of customers across dozens of platforms. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 4+ years of experience developing in C++, preferably cross-platform.
  • Knowledge of content formats (textures, sounds, data-defined gameplay assets) used in modern game engines.
  • Extensive troubleshooting and debugging skills.
  • Experience driving cross-org and cross-discipline communications.

Responsibilities

  • Extend, maintain, and refactor the Minecraft engine with an eye for quality and performance.
  • Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.
  • Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features.
  • Contributes to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation.
  • Debug and resolve complex problems by investigating and addressing root causes for systemic issues.
