About The Position

At Regions, the Software Engineer Manager oversees application development for a large or complex department within the company. This role manages strategy development to ensure the application portfolio meets current business requirements and is operational, stable, reliable, and technically mature. This role leads a rapidly growing software engineering team responsible for a critical consumer digital origination platform built on modern cloud-native technologies, including .NET, AWS, OpenShift, and SQL. The manager will play a key role in scaling engineering practices, elevating team performance, and fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is a proven people leader who can successfully guide teams through periods of significant growth and transformation. This includes coaching and developing engineers, establishing clear performance expectations, and creating an environment where individuals and teams can consistently deliver high-quality results. In addition to people leadership, this position partners closely with Product, Business, Security, Architecture, and Technology leaders to align priorities, manage strategic initiatives, and drive execution across multiple stakeholder groups. The manager will help shape the future direction of the platform by balancing business objectives, customer experience, security requirements, operational excellence, and long-term technology strategy. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the modernization and evolution of a highly visible digital platform, including improving system scalability, reliability, security, developer productivity, and overall customer experience. The successful candidate will be comfortable leading through an evolving landscape, navigating complex technical and organizational challenges, and driving meaningful change across both technology and process.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Eight (8) years of relevant experience, of which two (2) years must be in a supervisory/managerial capacity
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Responsibilities

  • Manages all aspects of system design, development, deployment, acquisition, and ongoing maintenance for all application systems within areas of responsibility
  • Serves as the primary technology contact for senior management from all areas of the organization in developing technology solutions that increase the efficiency of internal business functions, resolves business problems, and supports the pursuit of business opportunities for areas of responsibility
  • Creates and refines operational processes and systems to ensure effective regulatory and audit compliance
  • Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and verify basic lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions
  • Evaluates customer and operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrates technical parameters, and ensures compatibility of all interfaces
  • Supports the planning, organization, implementation, and monitoring of requirements through management processes
  • Partners across Technology, Operations, Digital, and Data (TODD) to ensure controls are designed, implemented, and monitored to strengthen risk management, compliance, and cyber security, effectively mitigating risk to levels within the company’s risk appetite
  • Ensures disciplined change management by evaluating risk and control impacts when designing or implementing changes to processes, systems, products, and/or services
