By combining open-source familiarity with a custom storage architecture and query layer, it delivers throughput and uptime. As industry paradigms shift toward autonomous intelligence, our system supercharge enterprise data by supporting frictionless developer workflows alongside complex, mission-critical autonomous workflows. This infrastructure group sits at the forefront of distributed systems and serves as a vital operational pillar. In this role, you will shape both the architecture and the engineering culture required to power the next generation of AI-driven database capabilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8 years of experience in software development.
- 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
- 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.
- Experience in designing, developing, and architecting large-scale distributed systems, managed cloud services, or relational databases.
Nice To Haves
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
- 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization.
- Experience working with or building backend infrastructure to support AI applications and complex production Agentic workloads.
- Deep experience in designing, implementing, or operating enterprise-grade database management systems (DBMS), particularly PostgreSQL or similar relational databases.
- Demonstrated experience architecting highly available, secure, and resilient systems, including advanced disaster recovery (DR), cross-region replication, or serverless platforms.
Responsibilities
- Manage, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of software engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, psychological safety, and innovation.
- Define and execute the long-term technical goal for the Platform for the Agentic era.
- Oversee the end-to-end design, implementation, and operational reliability of major components across the AlloyDB platform stack to support production-grade Agentic workloads.
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers and UX to define product roadmaps and translate customer requirements into scalable engineering solutions.
- Drive technical alignment and successful integrations by collaborating with various engineering teams across the broader Google Cloud organization.
