About The Position

As a Software Engineer, Level 3 at Independent Software, you will design, develop, test, and maintain mission-critical software solutions supporting national defense and intelligence operations. You will work on complex software systems that may include data processing applications, advanced analytics, real-time systems, algorithm development, and enterprise business applications. Working independently or as part of an agile development team, you will develop high-quality software, resolve technical challenges, and contribute to the design and implementation of scalable, reliable, and secure solutions that support customer mission objectives.

Requirements

Experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software applications.
Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, C#, JavaScript, Go, or similar.
Experience with software development methodologies, software design principles, and the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
Experience troubleshooting software defects and performing root cause analysis.
Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications based on documented requirements.
Develop software solutions for complex and diverse systems, including data processing, analytics, real-time applications, and enterprise systems.
Participate in software design, requirements analysis, and system architecture discussions.
Review, test, and validate software components to ensure compliance with design requirements and quality standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and problem reports.
Develop and maintain technical documentation related to software design, testing, and implementation.
Collaborate with software engineers, system engineers, and other technical teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
Evaluate hardware and software trade-offs and recommend appropriate technical solutions.
Leverage Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS), Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS), and reusable software components when appropriate.
Follow established software development methodologies, coding standards, and best practices.
