About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer Level 3 with an active TS/SCI clearance and Full Scope Polygraph to join our team. The role involves leading software engineering and DevOps teams in developing solutions for a mission customer. This position requires extensive experience in software development, microservices architecture, containerization, and data management, with a strong emphasis on delivering complex products in an Agile environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the full software development lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design to implementation, testing, and maintenance.

Requirements

  • Active TS/SCI with Full Scope Polygraph security clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).
  • Twenty (20) years of experience as a Software Engineer in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity.
  • Experience as a technical lead on a complex product.
  • Experience leading a team of software engineers and DevOps engineers.
  • Experience using the Linux command line interface.
  • Experience developing microservices using Java and Spring.
  • Experience developing and maintaining NiFi workflows, creating custom processors.
  • Experience with containerization technologies including Docker and containerd.
  • Experience with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.
  • Experience using system monitoring tools including Grafana and Prometheus.
  • Experience using Git for version control.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related discipline from an accredited college or university, or four (4) years of additional SWE experience on projects with similar software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
  • Demonstrated work experience with distributed scalable Big Data Store (NoSQL) such as Hbase, CloudBase/Accumulo, Big Table, etc.
  • Demonstrated work experience with the Map Reduce programming model and technologies such as Hadoop, Hive, Pig, etc.
  • Demonstrated work experience with the Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS).
  • Demonstrated work experience with Serialization such as JSON and/or BSON.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery principles and tools such as GitLab CI and ArgoCD.
  • Experience with OpenSearch or Elasticsearch for data indexing and retrieval.
  • Experience with NiFi for dataflow management and ingestion.
  • Experience with the Amazon HCI platform.
  • Strong debugging, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in an Agile development environment and on a multi-disciplinary team.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as technical lead on complex software projects, guiding teams of software and DevOps engineers.
  • Develop microservices using Java and Spring.
  • Develop and maintain NiFi workflows, including creating custom processors.
  • Coordinate with the DevOps team to scale processing clusters to meet data velocity and volume requirements.
  • Utilize containerization technologies like Docker and containerd.
  • Implement and manage container orchestration using Kubernetes.
  • Employ system monitoring tools such as Grafana and Prometheus.
  • Use Git for version control.
  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
  • Design and code new software or modify existing software to add new features.
  • Debug existing software and correct defects.
  • Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
  • Develop simple data queries for databases or data repositories.
  • Provide recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
  • Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards.
  • Assist with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
  • Write or review software and system documentation.
  • Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, conferring with users or system engineers, analyzing systems flow, data usage, and work processes, and investigating problem areas.
  • Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, or improve performance.
  • Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models.
  • Design or implement complex database or data repository interfaces/queries.
  • Oversee software development teams and ensure work completion according to project constraints.
  • Design or implement complex algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints.
  • Perform quality control on team products.
  • Confer with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and obtain information on project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
  • Coordinate software system installation and monitor equipment functioning.
  • Implement recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
  • Serve as the technical lead of multiple software development teams.
  • Select the software development process in coordination with the customer and system engineering.
  • Recommend new technologies and processes for complex software projects.
  • Ensure quality control of all developed and modified software.
  • Delegate programming and testing responsibilities and monitor team performance.
