About The Position

As a Software Engineer Level 0 at Independent Software, you will develop, maintain, and enhance software applications supporting mission-critical government systems. Working as part of an experienced engineering team, you will design, code, test, and debug software while contributing to the development of reliable, high-performance solutions. This role is ideal for recent graduates or entry-level software engineers looking to build their careers in a collaborative environment while supporting national security missions.

Requirements

  • Basic knowledge of software development principles and object-oriented programming
  • Familiarity with one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, or similar
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) concepts
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and development tools
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline from an accredited college or university OR Four (4) years of Software Engineering experience on projects utilizing similar software development processes may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
  • Must possess an active TS SCI with appropriate Polygraph to be considered for this role

Responsibilities

  • Analyze user requirements to develop software design and performance solutions
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications and components
  • Debug existing software and resolve defects
  • Modify existing software to add new features and improve functionality
  • Integrate software into new or modified operating environments
  • Develop simple database queries for existing and proposed data repositories
  • Participate in software testing and document test results
  • Support software integration and system validation activities
  • Contribute to software design discussions, including hardware/software tradeoffs and reuse of Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) and Government Off-the-Shelf (GOTS) solutions
  • Follow established software development methodologies and engineering best practices
  • Collaborate with software engineers and system engineers to deliver high-quality software solutions
