As a Software Engineer Lead within PNC's Technology organization, you will be based in Pittsburgh, PA, Strongsville, OH, Cleveland, OH, Dallas, TX, Phoenix, AZ, Denver, CO, or Birmingham, AL. PNC will not provide sponsorship for employment visas or participate in STEM OPT for this position. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Mainframe COBOL Developer to join our technology team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, testing, and implementation of COBOL-based applications on our mainframe systems. This role involves working with complex business logic and ensuring the stability and performance of mission-critical applications. Creates and leads the technical design and development of software solutions. Proposes & designs software solutions to address complex business needs. Prepares technical and procedural documentation required. Facilitates complex problem resolution. Provides technical guidance and support to colleagues. Reviews coding, testing, and documentation of software. Applies modern principles, methodologies and tools to advance business initiatives and capabilities. Requirements

  • Operating systems: IBM z/OS, AIX, Linux (Red Hat), Windows
  • Mainframe: COBOL, CICS, DB2, JCL, VSAM, TSO/ISPF, Easytrieve, Endevor, CA7, Control M, BMC AMI DevX Code Pipeline
  • Relational databases: DB2, Oracle
  • University / college degree, with 3+ years of relevant / direct industry experience.
  • In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Fiserv’s PEP+ ACH system
  • API development experience , including but not limited to using Z/OS Connect
  • Experience in financial services or insurance industry

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain mainframe applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS and VSAM.
  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Perform system analysis, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation of mainframe applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business analysts and project managers, to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues related to mainframe applications.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in mainframe development.
