About The Position

We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join the Product Information Management (PIM) Core team. Our team is comprised of varying levels of experience and backgrounds. As a Software Engineer in one of our teams, you can expect to work with other Software Engineers, Architects and Analysts to develop products and deliver solutions in a cloud environment and working with Technical Product Managers by helping with the execution of product roadmaps and backlog priorities. You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager and head of PIM Engineering (temporary). The PIM Core team is responsible for driving stability, clarity, and long-term sustainability across the PIM ecosystem. Our mission is to build and support a unified foundation of shared components that enable product teams to move faster with confidence. We do this by fostering a culture of shared ownership, clear accountability, and thoughtful stewardship of the systems and tools that power the PIM platform. We ensure reliable support for the Workstation Core software, maintain strong operational continuity, and document and rationalize all shared components to reduce ambiguity and improve maintainability.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in computer science or a related field.
  • 5+ years experience as a Software Engineer.
  • Experience with Java, JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and React/Redux.
  • Proven ability to analyze and interpret complex technical problems and processes.
  • Hands-on experience designing, developing, and deploying applications using modern, established technologies.
  • Experience creating CI/CD & DevOps automation, including the use of infrastructure as‑code frameworks (e.g., GitHub Actions, CloudFormation, ‑Terraform).

Nice To Haves

  • Strong experience with AWS, helm, and Kubernetes is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with engineers, architects and analysts to develop solutions.
  • Utilize specialized skills based on our in-house Product Information Management platform as a Full Stack engineer.
  • Develop and guide PIM teams in adopting DevOps best practices.
  • Implement and focus on continuous delivery activities in a GitHub environment.
  • Support team activities (daily standups, tech huddle topics, desk checks) and pairing with peers to work on stories.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to junior engineers as applicable to all PIM engineering.
  • Consistently practice Grainger engineering Sensible Defaults on the team.
  • Contribute to team culture and support a high performing team.
