About The Position

As a Software Engineering Intern on the DevX and Extensibility team, you will help build the guardrails, monitoring, and insights that power our MCP extensions and connectors for third-party applications. Your work will give enterprise customers greater visibility into what our Agents are doing when they interact with IRIS, helping them trust and use the platform responsibly. You'll collaborate closely with senior engineers to design and implement telemetry, logging, and safety mechanisms that make our Agent calling ecosystem observable, resilient, and extensible. This internship is for a duration of 12 weeks.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in a relevant field with an expected graduation date between December 2027 and May/June 2028
  • Field of study in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline
  • Experience with object-oriented programming, data structures, and algorithms (through coursework, side projects, or prior internships)
  • Experience writing, debugging, and testing code in at least one modern programming language
  • Applicants must already be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time, permanent basis without the need for current or future sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with cloud computing concepts and platforms (e.g., Azure or AWS)
  • Experience with TypeScript or JavaScript, or an interest in learning them
  • Exposure to modern "agentic" developer tools such as GitHub Copilot or similar AI-assisted coding tools
  • Strong communication skills and a demonstrated hunger to learn new technologies and understand how systems work under the hood
  • A proactive attitude toward identifying problems, proposing solutions, and collaborating with others to implement them
  • Interest in backend, platform, or distributed systems development and in building reliable, secure services

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with senior engineers to design and implement guardrails and safety mechanisms for MCP extensions and connectors that interact with external systems and 3P applications
  • Build and enhance monitoring, logging, and alerting to provide deep visibility into Agent behavior and flows within the IRIS ecosystem
  • Contribute to backend and/or services codebases, including writing, debugging, and testing code for new features and improvements under the guidance of your mentor and team
  • Participate in the full software development lifecycle: design discussions, implementation, code reviews, testing, deployment, and post-deployment monitoring
  • Help define and improve developer experiences for internal and external builders using our platform, including contributing to documentation and examples where needed
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders (product, security, platform teams) to understand requirements and translate them into well-scoped engineering tasks
  • Present your work through demos and a final internship presentation, highlighting your design decisions, impact, and learnings

Benefits

  • earned time off, as well as paid company holidays based on region
  • take up to six months off with your child after birth, adoption or foster care placement
  • options for 100% employer paid and minimum employee contribution health plans from day one of employment
