About The Position

We are looking for talented software engineers for our 12-week remote Summer 2027 internship program. We currently use: Go, JavaScript (React / React Native, Redux, Flow), Google App Engine, GraphQL and other technologies that best solve the problem at hand. Here are some examples of recent projects our interns have done: Speech-to-text with push-to-talk for Khanmigo, Rewriting the calculator widget user interface, Creating tools for classroom teachers, Added PhET Interactive Simulations to our content. Requirements

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in computer science or a related field.
  • Expected graduation date in 2027 or 2028 (rising Junior or Senior).
  • At least one previous software internship experience.
  • Ability to start in May/2027 or June/2027 and have 10–12 weeks of availability.
  • Ability to work/live within the United States or Canada for the duration of the internship.
  • Ability to learn and use AI-assisted development tools.
  • Motivated by the Khan Academy mission.
  • Proven cross-cultural competency skills demonstrating self-awareness, awareness of other, and the ability to adopt inclusive perspectives, attitudes, and behaviors.
  • Eagerness to learn, educate, write code, and build products.
  • Strong communication, thoughtfulness, and desire to give and receive regular feedback.
  • Empathy for learners around the world.
  • Love learning and be excited about helping others learn to love learning.
  • Motivated to learn new things and share what you learn with the world.

Responsibilities

  • Support coding, debugging, and testing using AI-assisted development tools.
  • Take ownership of work by understanding, reviewing, and validating AI-generated code with guidance from an engineering mentor.
  • Learn new technologies and contribute to products used by millions of learners and teachers.
  • Give and receive regular feedback.
  • Contribute to a culture of learning and joy.
