About The Position

We are Scan.com, a digital health scale-up focused on making diagnostics accessible, fast, and transparent. Our technology accelerates diagnoses for timely treatments, improving healthcare outcomes daily. We offer solutions for both patients and providers, supported by our technology and customer operations team. Our B2C marketplace simplifies scan booking, and our B2B platforms provide live scheduling and AI-driven workflow enhancements for healthcare professionals. We are seeking a Software Engineer, Integrations to join us at a pivotal time of growth, having successfully launched multiple platforms, raised significant funding, achieved profitability, and experiencing over 100% year-over-year growth.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to integrate with legacy systems not designed for modern interoperability (e.g., aging RIS platforms, core banking systems).
  • Experience with integration middleware or engine patterns (commercial or custom-built).
  • Proficiency in at least one backend language suitable for high-reliability integration (Python, Go, Java, C#).
  • Familiarity with RESTful API integration patterns, including schema versioning, backward compatibility, and API contract management.
  • Strong operational instincts: ability to instrument systems, anticipate failure modes, and use on-call escalations as feedback for systemic improvements.
  • Deep expertise in HL7 v2 message processing, including understanding the base standard and vendor-specific non-conformance.
  • Experience in healthcare is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and build systems that ensure the robustness, observability, and extensibility of Scan.com's integration layer.
  • Design and implement HL7 v2 transformation pipelines, including parsing, normalizing, enriching, and routing various message types across heterogeneous systems.
  • Build and maintain integration connectors for modern and legacy imaging center RIS systems to manage calendar availability and patient documentation.
  • Architect fault-tolerant message queuing and delivery infrastructure for HL7 and API traffic.
  • Develop interfaces for demand-side EHR integrations.
  • Build and maintain REST API integrations with third-party referral sources, attorney platforms, and demand aggregators.
  • Own the observability layer for integration infrastructure, including structured logging, alerting on message processing issues, and creating dashboards to proactively identify problems.
