Software Engineer---Integration Developer

TruistRichmond, VA
$105,000 - $149,000Onsite

About The Position

This Software Engineer independently designs, develops, tests and maintains complex integration services for Wealth Brokerage and Trust. The role focuses on reliable movement of business data and orchestration of transactions across applications, platforms and organizational boundaries. The engineer is expected to combine strong .NET/C#, SQL Server and Azure engineering with practical integration expertise across REST APIs, messaging, batch processing and managed file transfer. Python may be used where appropriate for data transformation, reconciliation, automation and engineering utilities. The role works with product, architecture, data, security, operations and vendor teams to ensure integrations are secure, observable, supportable and aligned with business and control requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or related field with 5 years of relevant experience or equivalent education and training.
  • In-depth knowledge of information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement IT best practices.
  • Advanced development of APIs, services, background workers and integration components using established design, dependency-injection, configuration and error-handling practices.
  • RESTful design, OpenAPI contracts, versioning, pagination, idempotency, throttling, security, consumer compatibility and lifecycle management.
  • Data modelling, querying, performance tuning, transactions, reconciliation, data-quality controls and safe integration with application services.
  • Practical use of approved Azure PaaS, API, messaging, identity, secrets, monitoring, storage and deployment capabilities appropriate to the solution.
  • Mapping, transformation, validation, enrichment, lineage, reference data, batch orchestration and recoverable exception processing.
  • Asynchronous integration, queues or topics, delivery semantics, correlation, ordering, replay and dead-letter handling.
  • Secure SFTP or managed file transfer, encryption, naming and control totals, acknowledgements, reconciliation and vendor interface support.
  • Targeted use for transformation, validation, reconciliation, automation, test harnesses and operational utilities, with production engineering controls.
  • Working knowledge of Node.js services and AWS capabilities where required for vendor, cloud or integration patterns, including secure API development, serverless processing, event handling, monitoring and disciplined operational support.
  • Source control, CI/CD, infrastructure and configuration discipline, automated testing, vulnerability remediation, observability and controlled release.
  • Brokerage and Trust flows involving clients, accounts, assets, transactions, cash, positions, servicing, operations, oversight and reporting.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in Wealth, Brokerage, Trust, banking, financial services or another highly regulated industry.
  • Experience integrating third-party platforms using APIs, messaging, SFTP, batch files or vendor-specific interfaces.
  • Experience with Azure API Management, Functions, App Service, Service Bus, Key Vault, Monitor or equivalent approved enterprise capabilities.
  • Experience with Python, data reconciliation, observability, performance testing and automated contract testing.
  • Experience with low-code or workflow platforms as integration consumers or producers.
  • Microsoft Azure, .NET, API, data engineering or security certification.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop secure REST APIs, integration services, background processes and reusable components using .NET and C#.
  • Create clear interface contracts, canonical data structures, validation rules, error models, idempotency controls and versioning approaches.
  • Implement data integration using SQL Server, stored procedures where appropriate, data access frameworks, Azure services, messaging, batch processes and SFTP or managed file transfer.
  • Use Python for targeted data transformation, reconciliation, automation, test utilities or operational tooling where it provides a sensible engineering fit.
  • Apply authentication, authorization, encryption, secrets management, certificate handling, network controls and least-privilege principles to integration designs.
  • Build robust error handling, retry, dead-letter, replay, correlation and reconciliation capabilities so failures are visible and recoverable.
  • Develop automated unit, component, contract, integration, performance and regression tests. Support test-data and service-virtualization approaches where dependencies are constrained.
  • Instrument integrations with structured logging, metrics, distributed tracing, dashboards and actionable alerting. Define operational runbooks and support procedures.
  • Partner with data owners and consumers to establish mappings, quality rules, lineage, retention and authoritative-source expectations.
  • Analyze and tune API, database, messaging and batch performance while accounting for throughput, latency, concurrency, capacity and downstream constraints.
  • Collaborate with architecture and platform teams on cloud migration, Azure PaaS patterns, network connectivity, deployment pipelines and reusable integration standards.
  • Troubleshoot complex defects and production incidents across application, API, database, identity, network and vendor boundaries. Complete root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Participate throughout the software development lifecycle, including refinement, design reviews, coding, peer review, testing, deployment, release validation and production support.
  • Lead code and design reviews, mentor junior engineers and contribute patterns, libraries and documentation that improve integration delivery across Wealth Technology.
