We are seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer III to join our Data Foundation team. The ideal candidate is proficient in Java and demonstrates a strong willingness to learn new technologies and tools as our platform evolves. You will play a key role in building scalable, reliable, and high-performance data solutions that power Walmart’s data-driven initiatives. Requirements

  • Strong programming skills in Java, with proven experience in backend or data engineering roles.
  • Demonstrated ability and enthusiasm to learn new tools, frameworks, and platforms.
  • Experience using AI-powered tools for development and testing (e.g., code generation, automated testing, static analysis).
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes for container orchestration and deployment.
  • Familiarity with ArgoCD for continuous delivery and GitOps workflows.
  • Experience with Postgres including schema design and query optimization.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area.
  • Knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain robust backend services and data pipelines using Java.
  • Actively leverage AI tools and frameworks to accelerate software development, automate testing, and improve code quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable data solutions.
  • Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and contribute to best practices.
  • Continuously learn and adapt to new technologies as required by project needs.
