About The Position

The Job Seeker Journey → Job Discovery team has a vision for transforming Indeed’s Homepage and Search into an adaptive, AI-driven discovery experience that guides job seekers to the most relevant job opportunities at every step of their journey, while creating clear, compounding value for employers. As a Senior Software Engineer (Front End), you will design and build software that powers shared platforms, services, and products to help deliver on this vision. You’ll work primarily on frontend systems that operate at significant scale, collaborating closely with engineers, product partners, and other cross-functional business partners to deliver reliable, high-quality solutions. In this role, you’ll own and contribute to technical design decisions, participate in design and code reviews, and use data and analytics to inform your work. You’ll regularly collaborate beyond your immediate team to support broader initiatives and help drive projects forward, while continuing to deepen your technical expertise and grow as an engineer.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field and a minimum of 5 years of related experience; or a Master’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience; or a PhD without experience
  • Proven track record of building and operating large-scale, high-performance and resilient front-end software systems integrating with gRPC or GraphQL backend APIs.
  • Proficient with Java and modern front-end technologies/frameworks including React/React Native, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Deep understanding of UI/UX fundamentals, design patterns, and best practices.
  • Experience building or contributing to large-scale or distributed systems.
  • Solid understanding of data structures, algorithms, and core computer science fundamentals.
  • A demonstrated sense of ownership and accountability for delivered work.
  • Curiosity, eagerness to learn, and enjoyment of solving complex technical problems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain features and services that support core business workflows.
  • Contribute to the evolution of existing systems while helping prototype and deliver new capabilities.
  • Participate in code reviews and design discussions to maintain quality, reliability, and clarity.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and data partners to deliver end-to-end solutions.
  • Identify performance and scalability improvements and enhance existing code accordingly.
  • Share knowledge and provide guidance to teammates through collaboration and feedback.
  • Communicate technical ideas clearly and effectively within the team.
