As a software engineer at GitHub, you will enhance the collaboration experience at GitHub by working closely with a community of engineers and designers with a distributed, diverse and passionate team delivering the services that millions of developers depend on. In this role you will design, prototype, implement, ship and support highly performant and inspiring user experiences with your team. GitHub is looking for a Software Engineer II to join the GitHub Copilot Models Lifecycle team. This role focuses on building and operating the backend services and APIs that power GitHub Copilot and keep new capabilities flowing safely to developers at scale. Our team owns the systems that get AI models configured, rolled out, and served reliably to millions of developers. A big part of the work is making that process safer and more automated — turning manual, repetitive steps into dependable, self-serve workflows, and rolling changes out gradually instead of all-at-once. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who likes owning real production services and cares about the details — reliability, safe rollouts, and clean, maintainable systems. You'll write code that ships, contribute to technical designs, and grow your scope on a team whose work directly unblocks other engineering teams across GitHub. You'll collaborate with a distributed, diverse group of engineers, PMs, and partner teams across GitHub and Microsoft. We value developer empathy, transparency, and inclusive collaboration, and we think curiosity and follow-through are what make great engineers.
