About The Position

We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. This role involves designing, developing, and supporting the "Promise and Sourcing Engine" for multiple tenants of Walmart. The engineer will create complex and scalable software features for accurate delivery date calculations across Walmart's site, develop sourcing solutions to meet promised customer dates, and design optimization solutions to reduce shipment costs. The position also includes optimizing and scaling existing features, setting up monitoring and alerting systems, debugging performance issues, maintaining automated test suites, leading new feature development projects, and providing operational support for special sales events.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (any), or a related field.
  • Experience developing back-end applications using object-oriented programming languages including Python and Java.
  • Experience using data storage technologies including MySQL, Cassandra and Cosmos.
  • Experience with development tools including Eclipse and IntelliJ.
  • Experience with code version tool GitHub.
  • Experience working on data stream technology Kafka.
  • Experience with Scrum methodology.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and support “Promise and Sourcing Engine” for multiple tenants of Walmart.
  • Develop complex and scalable software features that calculate delivery dates accurately across all front-end pages on Walmart site.
  • Develop sourcing solutions that adhere to the promised dates to customer.
  • Design and develop optimization solutions that help reduce shipment costs to Walmart.
  • Optimize and scale existing features to meet the rising customer demand.
  • Setup monitoring and alerting system to monitor infrastructure running software for the complete Promise and Sourcing platform.
  • Debug, analyze, and fix performance degradation issues as and when they appear.
  • Maintain the automated software test suite for all new software features and enhancements.
  • Lead new feature software development projects from investigation to design to production implementation and maintenance.
  • Provide operational support for special sale events including console events and holiday events.
