About The Position

The Software Engineer III will demonstrate up-to-date expertise and apply it to the development, execution, and improvement of software engineering plans. This role involves supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs, and building commitment for perspectives and rationales. The engineer will understand business, stakeholder, and technical requirements, and assist in analyzing existing software solutions to address needs. Responsibilities include preparing requirement traceability matrices, contributing to user stories, creating and configuring code for software components, and ensuring they meet various non-functional requirements. The role also involves assisting in the selection of development standards and tools, learning new coding languages and frameworks, building automation scripts for CI/CD and testing, implementing telemetry features, and ensuring security policy requirements are met. Additionally, the engineer will map customer requirements to test objectives, create and execute test cases, track and analyze defects, troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, conduct maintenance procedures, monitor application performance, and evaluate software change requests.

Requirements

  • Experience coding in at least one of the following object-oriented programming languages: Kotlin, or Java.
  • Experience designing and implementing REST APIs.
  • Experience creating dashboard monitoring systems by using Grafana and Prometheus.
  • Experience auditing data by using Message Queue such as Kafka or RabbitMQ.
  • Experience persisting and manipulating data in NoSQL database.
  • Experience testing using JUnit, Mockito.
  • Experience building and maintaining microservices using Spring Boot framework.
  • Experience deploying applications in cloud or containerized environments including Kubernetes.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of software engineering plans; supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs; and building commitment for perspectives and rationales.
  • Understand the business, stakeholder, and technical requirements and assist in analyzing the existing software solutions to address the needs.
  • Prepare requirement traceability matrix and maintain traceability between business requirements, functional requirements, design, and test cases.
  • Contribute to the creation of user stories for components, modules, and simple requirements.
  • Create and configure minimalistic code for entire software components and applications and ensure the software components meet business and technical requirements, non-functional requirements, low-maintainability, high-availability, and high-scalability needs.
  • Assist in the selection of appropriate languages and software development standards and tools.
  • Take the initiative to learn the fundamentals of different coding languages and frameworks that would be useful for future scope of work.
  • Build scripts for automation of repetitive and routine tasks in CI/CD (Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery), testing, or any other process.
  • Implement telemetry features as required independently.
  • Ensure security policy requirements are properly applied to components/application during code development/configuration.
  • Map the customer requirements into test objectives.
  • Identify and create test cases for the components and modules.
  • Execute test cases to test the code and detect errors and defects for the entire component.
  • Execute different types of testing using appropriate testing tools based on the testing needs.
  • Track and analyze defects for the components and modules and carry out regression testing to fix defects in all instances of code changes.
  • Analyze defects from past software engineering solutions to avoid recurrence of similar defects.
  • Troubleshoot performance and availability bottlenecks for the application.
  • Conduct complex maintenance procedures for software applications independently.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of the software application by tracking and analyzing appropriate metrics.
  • Perform maintenance (corrective, adaptive, perfective) and re-engineering activities.
  • Analyze software application logs, maintenance activity data, performance data and analysis.
