About The Position

This is a full-time, onsite role at our Bentonville, AR office. As a Software Engineer III at Walmart, you will lead the design and development of scalable software solutions by collaborating with cross‑functional teams, including Product Management and User Experience. You will troubleshoot complex issues, perform root‑cause analysis, and drive resolution strategies to enhance system reliability. This role involves managing projects from requirements gathering through coding, testing, and deployment while ensuring adherence to quality and security standards. You will also mentor junior engineers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, supporting Walmart’s commitment to delivering innovative and efficient technology solutions. About the Team Walmart’s Omni strategy integrates in‑store, online, and mobile shopping into a unified customer experience. This engineering team develops and maintains backend systems that manage replenishment and inventory flow for both Walmart and Sam’s Club. By collaborating closely with merchants, suppliers, and product teams, they work to ensure product availability aligned with customer needs. The team combines large‑scale data engineering with real‑world business impact, playing a vital role in Walmart’s omnichannel capabilities. Their work supports services such as curbside pickup and in‑home delivery, leveraging Walmart’s physical store proximity to enhance speed and convenience for customers.

Requirements

Proven experience in software design, development, and delivery using object‑oriented programming and iterative development methodologies.
Strong technical acumen with expertise in API design, platform development, and component services.
Ability to troubleshoot complex issues through root‑cause analysis and implement sustainable solutions.
Proficiency in coding standards, debugging, and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices.
Experience collaborating with cross‑functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
Knowledge of testing strategies, defect management, and application performance monitoring.
Capability to mentor and guide small engineering teams while ensuring adherence to project timelines and quality standards.
Spark, Scala, Java, Kafka, NoSQL DB

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area

Responsibilities
