About The Position

Capital Blue Cross is seeking a Software Engineer III (Clinical Repository) to build, maintain, and enhance its proprietary clinical data analytics repository. This role will report to HQ in Harrisburg, PA, but offers the flexibility of remote work from any state or metro area permitted by corporate policy. The position involves planning and leading projects, coordinating with customers and IT, analyzing business problems, designing innovative solutions, and ensuring the quality and efficiency of existing systems.

  • 2 years experience in clinical data formats (organizing, mapping, and presenting insights and opportunities).
  • 2 years experience with HL7, FHIR.
  • 2 years experience with clinical data formats (CCD, ADT, Labs).
  • 2 years experience with C#.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, lead, and oversee projects using project management processes to ensure due dates and budgeted costs.
  • Coordinate with customers and IT.
  • Analyze and research business problems to determine impact on existing business and IT systems and feasibility of automation.
  • Conform with PMO guidelines and procedures when developing IT solutions to defined business problems using structured methodologies.
  • Conduct meetings with customers to ensure requirements are defined and satisfied.
  • Design innovative solutions using emerging and existing technologies, and determine feasibility and practicality of implementation within current or future environments, including processes required to support accepted solutions.
  • Prepare test data and conduct program and system tests to ensure compliance.
  • Assist customers in establishing acceptance criteria and effectiveness of proposed solutions.
  • Maintain knowledge of department's programming languages and tools, coding and design techniques, database management systems, processing platforms, and emerging technologies via continued education and training.
  • Analyze functional and technical aspects of existing systems to identify areas for improvement in cost savings, quality, and service.
  • Develop and maintain programs or systems and related elements (scripts, stored procedures, docs, maintenance schedules, etc.).
  • Lead or participate in the evaluation and selection of vendor software and integrate software with existing systems.
  • Act as a focal point for problem resolution and customer inquiries.
  • Analyze and research new technologies, tools, and methodologies.
  • Multitask and adapt to changing priorities of customers.
  • Work independently and with a project team.
  • Communicate effectively in presentations, documentation, and all communications.
  • Provide off-hours assistance to support customers and IT initiatives.
