This opportunity will allow you to build and operate the platforms that power mission-critical cloud services at global scale. You will join a team focused on delivering highly reliable, secure, and performant data platform capabilities that underpin Azure SQL and next-generation cloud experiences. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers to solve complex distributed systems challenges and drive innovations that directly impact customers worldwide. As a Software Engineer II, you will design, build, and operate scalable services, partnering closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions from concept through production. You will own end-to-end components, contribute to architectural decisions, and help ensure operational excellence across our platform. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.
  • Candidates must be able to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role.
  • Candidates must have an active TS/SCI and be willing and eligible to upgrade to TS/SCI (with polygraph).
  • This role will require candidates to maintain the TS/SCI (with polygraph) clearance.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required pre-offer and post-hire for this role.
  • Failure to maintain or obtain the appropriate clearance and/or customer screening requirements may result in employment action up to and including termination.
  • This position requires successful verification of the stated security clearance to meet federal government customer requirements.
  • You will be asked to provide clearance verification information prior to an offer of employment.
  • This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
  • This position requires verification of U.S. citizenship due to citizenship-based legal restrictions.
  • Specifically, this position supports United States federal, state, and/or local United States government agency customer and is subject to certain citizenship-based restrictions where required or permitted by applicable law.

Responsibilities

  • Works with appropriate stakeholders to determine user requirements for a set of features.
  • Contributes to the identification of dependencies, and the development of design documents for a product area with little oversight.
  • Creates and implements code for a product, service, or feature, reusing code as applicable.
  • Contributes to efforts to break down larger work items into smaller work items and provides estimation.
  • Acts as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI) working on-call to monitor system/product feature/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions and gains approval to restore system/product/service for simple problems.
  • Remains current in skills by investing time and effort into staying abreast of current developments that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale.
