About The Position

Our Edge Platform division designs and develops technology that helps our customers improve their Web and Media content delivery. Leveraging our deployment of servers around the world, we can uniquely solve technology problems with innovative solutions. As a Software Engineer II at Akamai, you'll be responsible for developing performant and scalable software. You will be working with a team of highly skilled developers to manage the upgrade and deployment of a product line of edge apps.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field/experience
  • Experience developing web services and user interfaces, with technologies like Java, Angular, SQL Databases, Docker
  • Be willing to navigate a diverse, established tech stack
  • Be interested in web technology, networks, and the inner workings of the internet, and the underlying communication protocols
  • Be comfortable working with and modernizing foundational and long-standing services
  • Be enthusiastic about automation (streamline development processes and reduce manual toil) and especially in maintaining and evolving existing critical systems

Responsibilities

  • Implementing strategic features, customer-requested enhancements, and fixing defects for Akamai's Cloudlets product line
  • Contributing to architecture, design documents, code reviews, test strategies, and release/deployment plans
  • Designing and developing highly scalable and performant software from conception through deployment, and improving the efficiency of current platforms
  • Fostering a culture of iterative improvement to our processes, strategies, and more, including adoption of cutting-edge tooling to increase team output
