Software Engineer II - Collaborative Web Platform

Pantheon Systems, Inc
$116,640 - $145,800Hybrid

About The Position

Pantheon is a company that brings together exceptional builders to drive meaningful impact and shape the future of the web. They power over 300,000 websites globally for major organizations. Pantheon operates with a philosophy of foundation and freedom, fostering a vibrant, remote-forward team of experts. The company is building the next generation of web content infrastructure, a real-time, collaborative platform to redefine content creation, publishing, and management. As a Software Engineer II on this team, you will be an early engineer on a founding-stage product with significant momentum. This role involves building features end-to-end, contributing to architectural decisions, and working with a small, senior team that prioritizes craft and speed. You will help define what gets built and how, working across the full stack including backend services, APIs, and frontend systems. You will collaborate closely with engineers, product, and design partners to ship features essential for developers and content teams daily. The team is early-stage, and every engineer has a meaningful voice in the product definition process.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of professional software engineering experience
  • Solid full-stack capability — you have shipped production code on both backend and frontend, and you are willing to stretch into whichever side a problem requires
  • Experience with modern API design: REST, GraphQL, or webhooks
  • Comfortable working in cloud-native environments (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
  • Strong fundamentals: you write tests, understand tradeoffs, and think about maintainability
  • Familiarity with JavaScript/TypeScript and at least one backend language
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • You are actively building with AI — using it in your development workflow or integrating it into the products you work on

Responsibilities

  • Build and ship full-stack features across backend services, APIs, and frontend interfaces
  • Write clean, well-tested, maintainable code with shared ownership of quality
  • Contribute to technical design discussions and architectural decisions as an active participant, not just an implementer
  • Collaborate closely with product and design to translate requirements into working, well-crafted software
  • Integrate AI tooling into your development workflow and into the product itself
  • Participate in code review and help maintain a high engineering bar across the team
  • Learn and grow quickly — this is a team that will stretch you in the best possible way

Benefits

  • Industry competitive compensation and equity plan
  • Flexible time off, sick days, and 13 paid holidays
  • Comprehensive medical insurance including Health, Dental and Vision
  • Paid parental leave (plus fertility, adoption and other family planning benefits)
  • In-office workspace (San Francisco & Chicago)
  • Monthly allowance for wellness, reading and access to LinkedIn Learning for continued development
  • Events and activities both team-based and company wide that inspire, educate and cultivate
