About The Position

CTG is seeking to fill a Software Engineer II opening for our client. This role involves designing, developing, testing, and maintaining enterprise Java applications and services. The engineer will perform systems analysis, application design, and development for new features, enhancements, and production support. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining RESTful APIs, integrating with internal and external systems, and building/supporting Azure-based solutions. The position requires preparing technical designs, functional specifications, and documentation, as well as developing and executing unit and integration tests. The engineer will also evaluate application architecture, participate throughout the software development lifecycle, coordinate development activities, and provide technical guidance to junior team members. Maintaining application performance, reliability, and operational effectiveness is crucial, as is recommending improvements to technologies, standards, tools, and processes. The role involves partnering with business stakeholders, technology teams, and vendors, and ensuring compliance with organizational standards. Support for project planning activities, including effort estimation and technical assessments, is also expected. The Software Engineer II will work under the direction of the Technology Team Lead but independently handle advanced assignments, serving as a key technical contributor on medium to large-scale projects and leading technical activities for less experienced developers. While there are no direct personnel management responsibilities, the role includes providing technical leadership, mentoring, and project coordination for junior developers.

Requirements

Associate's degree and a minimum of five (5) years of systems analysis and application development experience; or a combined minimum of seven (7) years of higher education and/or relevant work experience, including at least five (5) years of application development experience.
Strong Java programming experience, including object-oriented programming, data structures, and concurrency.
Experience developing applications using Spring Boot and RESTful APIs.
Experience with Azure development technologies, including Azure Functions, Service Integrations, Key Vault, Managed Identities, and Azure Monitoring.
Experience with HTTP client libraries, API authentication (OAuth 2.0), and API error handling.
Knowledge of build automation tools and unit testing frameworks.
Familiarity with application development platforms, software development lifecycle methodologies, and enterprise application architecture.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Experience coordinating with business stakeholders and cross-functional technology teams.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational, planning, and time management abilities with the capability to manage multiple complex assignments.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java applications and services using Java and Spring Boot.
