About The Position

As a Software Engineer on RTX’s Next Generation engineering team, you will develop avionics solutions for commercial, business, and military flight decks. The team builds next-generation flight technologies, including flight-management software, high-performance embedded systems, intelligent sensor fusion, real-time avionics networks, and autonomous mission platforms. The role focuses on embedded flight software for safety-critical systems. You will write and optimize deterministic, high-performance code; debug and validate systems with simulation and hardware-in-the-loop environments; and collaborate with systems engineers, hardware teams, AI/ML specialists, and flight-test personnel. You will also support AI-assisted onboard features and help ensure compliance with aviation safety, secure-coding, and cyber-resilience requirements. The position involves lab testing, simulation runs, and flight-test operations.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM major, obtained by the start date.
  • Relevant experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.
  • Experience with high-level programming languages such as C, Python, or C++, as well as Git and DevOps.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills and an interest in working in dynamic teams to solve challenging problems.
  • Basic understanding of aircraft operational fundamentals; the role involves executing flight-test scenarios to validate system functionality and performance.
