About The Position

The Software Engineer II position involves delivering technically complex solutions and performing system integration support for all project work. This role requires consulting and partnering with business product owners to understand end goals and offer solutions and recommendations during the design phase. The engineer will develop customized coding, software integration, perform analysis, and configure solutions using project-specific tools. Key responsibilities include leading and participating in the development, testing, implementation, maintenance, and support of highly complex solutions in adherence to company standards, including robust unit testing and support for subsequent release testing. The role also involves building non-functional monitoring capabilities, providing escalated support for complex applications in production, and building and maintaining security controls and monitoring in support of company standards. This position typically leads moderately complex projects and participates in larger, more complex initiatives, solving complex technical and operational problems. The engineer will act as a resource for teammates with less experience and may oversee the work of a small team. In an Agile environment, the engineer is responsible for delivering high-quality working software, automating manual/reusable tasks, and engaging with the business from the beginning of design work. They will leverage continuous engineering practices to deliver business value regarding design effectiveness, actively participate in refining user stories, and be responsible for design, development, and maintenance of automated unit testing, supporting integration and functional testing. Additionally, the role includes providing automated monitoring capabilities, warranty support, and knowledge transfer to production support, developing code in accordance with acceptance criteria established by the Product Owner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • 4 years of experience in software engineering or IT consulting positions.
  • Handling/leading data conversions from one processor to another processor.
  • In-depth knowledge in information systems and ability to identify, apply, and implement IT best practices.
  • Understanding of key business processes and competitive strategies related to the IT function.
  • Planning and managing projects and solving complex problems by applying best practices.
  • Providing direction and mentoring less experienced teammates.
  • Working with Business and Ops to refine requirements and design solutions that best fit Banking systems.
  • Solid knowledge of relational database design and development (SQL, stored procedures, and data modeling).
  • Working with cross work streams to standardize data definitions, rules, access policies and appropriate data encryption techniques to maintain data quality, accessibility and reliability of data systems.
  • Working on Feasibility study reports to determine practicality, strength and weaknesses of proposed projects, challenges that could arise in coming phases of projects, and identifying potential solutions resulting from projects.
  • Utilizing experience with: JCL; IMS database to handle data conversion activities; IBM Tools: ISPF, IBM File Manager, NDM, and ConnectDirect; IBM Utilities; COBOL; DB2; CICS; VSAM; SQL; SAS; CA-ESP; CA-WA Workstation; File Manager, DBVisualizer, SoapUI; and Unix.
