About The Position

As a Software Engineer II at Cox Automotive, you will help design, build, test, and maintain secure and scalable software solutions that power key products and platforms across our ecosystem. You’ll work within an agile team to deliver high‑quality features, troubleshoot service issues, and continuously improve engineering practices. This role also includes collaborating with AI‑augmented development tools to enhance productivity, quality, and innovation. For this role, front‑end engineering experience is preferred, but not required.

Requirements

  • Foundational skills in analytical thinking, requirements analysis, integration, system troubleshooting, and secure software development.
  • Experience with backend or service‑oriented development using modern languages or frameworks.
  • Familiarity with Java, cloud services (AWS), relational or NoSQL databases, RESTful APIs, CI/CD, and automated testing.
  • Willingness to use AI‑augmented tools for code generation, testing assistance, log analysis, and workflow optimization.
  • Experience building user interfaces using JavaScript, React, Vue, Angular, or similar frameworks.
  • Bachelor’s degree (list any requirements of discipline here) and 2 years’ experience in a related field.
  • The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master’s degree and up to 2 years’ experience; or 14 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship. No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT or visa sponsorship now or in future.
  • Collaborate with AI agents throughout the software development lifecycle, providing contextual inputs to improve AI understanding and output quality.
  • Implement and support AI-powered features and pipelines in our products.
  • Contribute to prompt engineering experimentation and share insights on AI tool usage.
  • Define and uphold coding standards, review practices, and ethical guidelines for AI use.
  • Mentor and coach team members on AI-augmented development.
  • To be employed in this role, you’ll need to clear a pre-employment drug test.

  • Front‑end engineering experience: modern JavaScript/TypeScript, component‑based frameworks (React preferred), and UI testing tools.

Responsibilities

  • Apply secure software engineering principles to design, develop, maintain, test, and evaluate software and cloud components.
  • Participate in design discussions, help the team estimate technical effort, and contribute clear, maintainable code.
  • Implement unit and system tests, follow secure coding standards, and support the reliability of new and existing features.
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support for application features, systems, and integrations.
  • Document processes, patterns, and reusable approaches to support team knowledge and consistency.
  • Collaborate with AI agents and tools to build, test, and deploy software by providing clear contextual inputs and experimenting with prompt engineering techniques.
  • Contribute to implementing AI‑powered features or pipelines aligned with team goals.
  • Work collaboratively with product managers, architects, designers, and engineering teammates in an agile environment focused on continuous improvement.
