About The Position

CyberTrend is seeking a Software Engineer II with an Active TS/SCI w/poly clearance. The company has 40 years of experience and is a technology leader on defense projects. CyberTrend provides IT, architectural, system, and software engineering personnel to government agencies, the intelligence community, and defense contractors. The Software Engineer will develop, maintain, and enhance complex and diverse software systems, working individually or as part of a team. This includes processing-intensive analytics, novel algorithm development, manipulation of large datasets, real-time systems, and business management information systems. The role involves reviewing and testing software components, resolving software problem reports, and utilizing appropriate software development methodologies. The engineer will provide input to system design, including hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, COTS/GOTS utilization, and requirements analysis. Fourteen (14) years of experience as a SWE in programs of similar scope, type, and complexity is required, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline. Four (4) additional years of SWE experience may substitute for the degree requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, maintains, and enhances complex and diverse software systems based upon documented requirements.
  • Works individually or as part of a team.
  • Reviews and tests software components for adherence to the design requirements and documents test results.
  • Resolves software problem reports.
  • Utilizes software development and software design methodologies appropriate to the development environment.
  • Provides specific input to the software components of system design to include hardware/software trade-offs, software reuse, use of Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS)/Government Off-the-shelf (GOTS) in place of new development, and requirements analysis and synthesis from system level to individual software components.
  • Analyzes user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
  • Designs and codes new software or modifies existing software to add new features.
  • Debugs existing software and corrects defects.
  • Integrates existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
  • Develops simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories.
  • Provides recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
  • Develops or implements algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards.
  • Assists with developing and executing test procedures for software components.
  • Writes or reviews software and system documentation.
  • Develops software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, conferring with users or system engineers; analyzing systems flow, data usage and work processes; and investigating problem areas.
  • Serves as team lead at the level appropriate to the software development process being used on any particular project.
  • Modifies existing software to correct errors, to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance.
  • Designs, develops and modifies software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design.
  • Designs or implements complex database or data repository interfaces/queries.
  • Oversees one or more software development teams and ensures the work is completed in accordance with the constraints of the software development process being used on any particular project.
  • Designs or implements complex algorithms requiring adherence to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints.
  • Performs quality control on team products.
  • Confers with system engineers and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces.
  • Coordinates software system installation and monitors equipment functioning to ensure operational specifications are met.
  • Implements recommendations for improving documentation and software development process standards.
