About The Position

Guidewire is hiring a Software Engineer II to contribute to its next-generation AI platform, which provides tools for designing AI agents, connecting to large language models, and managing knowledge bases that support intelligent insurance applications. The role focuses primarily on backend services and uses AI coding tools to build platform services that support developer experience while meeting quality, scalability, security, and operational excellence goals. This is an onsite, full-time position based in the United States, within Guidewire's Product Development & Operations organization. The team prioritizes adoption of AI, cloud, and data platforms and delivering measurable value and efficiency for customers.

Requirements

• 3–5 years of experience in backend software engineering, including experience building web services or applications.
• Experience with coding agents and automation tools.
• Familiarity with at least one of Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Python, and willingness to learn other languages.
• Familiarity with large language models (LLMs), Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), vector databases, AI agents, and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
• Good collaboration and communication skills.
• Familiarity with or willingness to learn Kubernetes and infrastructure as code.
• Ability to embrace AI in the role and use data-driven insights to drive innovation, productivity, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain features for Guidewire's application platform, primarily focusing on backend services.
• Apply agentic coding tools to accelerate development.
• Write clean, well-tested code with attention to quality and security.
• Collaborate with team members to deliver secure, scalable, and efficient platform operations.
• Participate in code reviews and learn from team best practices.
