About The Position
Join our Compute division's Platform Engineering Team! Akamai is working to simplify the way people work in the cloud. Our work environment nurtures innovative solutions, rapid development cycles, and open communication. This is a collaborative team building and scaling platform services for our compute platform. We encourage and reward curiosity, ingenuity, and technical excellence. As a Software Engineer II, you will develop platform services on top of our compute infrastructure. This includes building and deploying systems and software which will allow Linode operations to scale.
Requirements
- 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or its equivalent
- Demonstrate familiarity with Go/Python
- Demonstrate familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes and other CNCF projects
- Possess solid Linux, Bash, and network fundamentals (HTTP, TLS, TCP/IP, DNS, etc.)
Responsibilities
- Building and deploying secure, scalable, elastic, manageable and reliable solutions using open source components and the Go programming language
- Building internal cloud infrastructure components like Service Mesh, Kubernetes, Messaging, Distributed database, Envoy and cloud native components
- Building and deploy highly available APIs using Golang
- Working closely with SRE and SQA teams to ensure systems are manageable and reliable
- Participating in the SDLC from requirements through deployment
