About The Position

ID.me is seeking an early-career Software Engineer II to join the Developer Portal team. The team is building a self-service platform that enables organizations and their developers to register applications, configure identity needs, test in a production-like sandbox, and launch to production. The role is backend-leaning full stack, working on services, APIs, and data models as well as customer-facing experiences in a Next.js and React frontend. Backend services primarily use Java and Spring Boot alongside legacy Ruby services; the frontend uses Next.js, React, and TypeScript. Engineers begin with well-scoped features alongside senior engineers and grow toward end-to-end ownership, from API contract through production operation. The role emphasizes high-quality, well-tested code and daily use of AI-assisted development tools for implementation, testing, debugging, and understanding code. The engineer will develop knowledge of authentication and authorization, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, enterprise SSO, multi-tenant access control, and credential management. The position also supports production operations through monitoring, alerting, debugging, and on-call participation after ramp-up. The engineer collaborates with Product, Design, and engineers across teams, with a dedicated mentor and a path toward broader feature ownership. This is an onsite role five days per week in Mountain View, California. ID.me describes itself as a full-time, in-office culture. The listed annual base salary range for Mountain View, California and New York, New York is $122,000–$157,000 USD; company bonus, sales incentives where applicable, equity, and benefits are not included in the listed base salary range.
