About The Position

Our Connected Aviation – Air Traffic Solutions - Software Engineering Department (ATS-SED) is looking for talented early career Software Engineers to join our team developing and supporting our Air Traffic Control Systems worldwide. We develop safety-of-life air traffic systems for mulit-national customers used for controlling and monitoring civil and military aviation traffic. This is an opportunity to learn new COTS tools, processes, and methodologies as you focus on improving your skills to support, design, develop, integrate, and test operational software components throughout the SW development life-cycle.

Requirements

  • Requires a Master's degree from an accredited college or university in the STEM areas of Computer Science or Software Engineering
  • Experience in a Unix/Linux development environment and command line usage
  • Strong software experience with C, C++ or JAVA programming languages
  • U.S. citizenship is absolutely required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under these programs/contracts.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and GIT
  • Proficiency with scripting languages such as Bash and Python
  • Intern experience in Software Engineering which includes exposure to various phases of the software development lifecycle
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, including formal presentations

Responsibilities

  • Make complex fixes to solve problems or create significant enhancements with guidance from Subject Matter Experts in the Air Traffic Control (ATC) Product Line software.
  • Update SW process documentation and work instructions needed to meet ATS SED’s high maturity level software engineering standards and processes.
  • Participate in agile processes and procedures to improve daily standups, sprint planning, sprint feature development, retrospectives, back log grooming and story pointing while using Atlassian tool suite.
  • Work with the software team and leadership in a highly collaborative team environment, requiring frequent multi-level communication with other engineering domain team members, program management and external stakeholders.
