About The Position

Our Edge Platform division designs, develops, and operates technology that helps our customers improve their Web and Media content delivery. Leveraging our deployment of servers around the world, we can uniquely solve technology problems with innovative solutions. As a Software Engineer II at Akamai, you'll be responsible for developing performant and scalable software. You will work with highly-skilled developers to manage the upgrade and deployment of a network of thousands of production servers.

Requirements

  • 2 years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field/experience
  • Be interested in learning about internet technologies and optimizations
  • Have experience developing and monitoring backend applications, such as databases, queuing systems, understanding of system limits and impacts on performance/scale
  • Have experience with some technologies like Java, Angular, Spring Framework, NoSQL Databases, Realtime Service Delivery, containerization technologies
  • Have expertise with scripting languages in a Linux/Unix environment (eg: shell, Bash, Python, Ruby)
  • Be comfortable with basic statistics and an interest in deeper analysis will be an asset
  • Be enthusiastic about automation, and build tools to streamline development processes and reduce manual toil

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with the product engineering team and/or working group
  • Conducting regular Production Error Audits of operational metrics and deep-dive log analysis to proactively detect anomalies and error conditions
  • Designing and implementing software tools that enhance productivity with respect to debugging, check-listing, and product metric analysis
  • Designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines that are key to building releases and deploying them to testing, staging, and production environments
  • Triaging and analysis of customer escalations related to product operations and behaviour, including the identification, mitigation, and resolution of product bugs
  • Participating as a Subject-Matter Expert in Technical Incidents, performing root cause analysis, identifying and executing incident mitigations
  • Fostering a culture that strives for consistent, iterative improvement to our processes, strategies, tools and frameworks
