This role is part of Enterprise Technology (ET), where we’re developing the digital infrastructure needed to build the road to space, with an emphasis on digital capabilities required to advance Blue Origin’s mission. Enterprise Technology is the center of excellence for digital technology at Blue Origin, providing oversight and governance to align technology and business strategies. Job Summary: We are seeking a software engineer to join Blue Origin's Warehouse and Inventory Technology team. Our systems track hundreds of thousands of parts used to build our rockets, serve thousands of users daily, and are a critical input to Blue Origin's fast-moving manufacturing operations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience writing software and deploying it to production environments.
  • Proficiency in at least one object-oriented programming language (e.g., Java or C++).
  • Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, including algorithms and common data structures.
  • Experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) to deliver production-ready code.
  • Ability to write efficient, working code given clear requirements.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build trust and maintain positive relationships in a team setting.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a passion for tackling complex technical challenges.
  • A passion for space exploration and a commitment to Blue Origin's mission.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing, aerospace, or the defense industry.
  • Experience with any of the following: iOS, Android, or React Native app development.
  • HTML, CSS, and JavaScript frameworks such as React.
  • Continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) strategies.
  • Relational or non-relational databases.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating extensively with other engineers to deliver features from our ambitious roadmap.
  • Implementing new features using backend and frontend programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, and React.
  • Integrating with AWS products such as DynamoDB, RDS, SQS, SNS, and others.
  • Utilizing modern design patterns and frameworks such as GraphQL, REST APIs, and message queues.
  • Participating in code reviews and helping peers write high-quality code.
  • Communicating ideas clearly through words, diagrams, and code.
  • Diagnosing and resolving issues within existing software and addressing technical challenges as they arise.
