About The Position

We are looking for a Software Engineer to help improve Etsy's development workflows and environments. As a Developer Platform Engineer, you'll build infrastructure and tooling that enables other engineers to write, test, and ship code more effectively. You'll work alongside experienced engineers on meaningful projects spanning CI/CD, dev environments, and our engineering architecture. This role is a great fit if you enjoy solving problems, care about code quality, and want to grow your skills in a platform engineering context. This is a full-time position reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager. In addition to salary, you will also be eligible for an equity package, an annual performance bonus, and our competitive benefits that support you and your family as part of your total rewards package at Etsy. For this role, we are considering candidates based in the United States. Candidates living within commutable distance of Etsy’s Brooklyn Office Hub may be the first to be considered. For candidates within commutable distance, Etsy requires in-office attendance once or twice per week depending on your proximity to the office. Etsy offers different work modes to meet the variety of needs and preferences of our team. Learn more details about our work modes and workplace safety policies here.

  • Organized and attentive to detail, with an appreciation for tests and documentation.
  • Familiarity with CI/CD concepts, non-production environments, and software development lifecycle workflows.

Nice To Haves

  • Some exposure to infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Chef, or similar) or willingness to learn.

  • Work closely with other infrastructure, product, and SRE teams to ensure consistency between development and production.
  • Actively work on SDLC, CI/CD, and infrastructure architecture at Etsy, as well as improving the developer working environment.
  • Participate in stand-ups, sprint planning, and retros along with other agile ceremonies.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide Slack support for our engineering "customers".
  • Conduct pull request reviews and discussions with a focus on quality software engineering practices.
  • Write and update documentation with clear protocols for other engineers to follow.
  • Collaborate with engineers across teams to solve shared problems.
