About The Position

The Amazon Robotics Autonomous Mobility software team develops the autonomy software that powers Proteus, Amazon’s first fully autonomous warehouse robot. We are growing and are looking for a Software Development Engineer to join our Platform, Data and Tools team. You will be part of an exceptional group of engineers building the platform and architecture for our onboard mapping, perception, motion planning and control software. In addition, you will collaborate with engineers and scientists across the team to develop and enhance our ML training and deployment pipelines.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with CUDA kernels or ML/low-level kernels
  • Experience in Unix, or experience working with device technologies under development, familiarity with flashing firmware, basic device debugging and familiarity with reading/pulling device logs
  • Experience building tools for building, testing, releasing or monitoring
  • Experience working in a cloud based development and production environment such as AWS
  • Experience in embedded development in C/C++
  • Experience building custom distributions using tools such as Yocto or Buildroot

Responsibilities

  • Optimizing runtime performance of core algorithms by exploiting underlying hardware acceleration capabilities
  • Integrating new sensors and hardware components into the autonomy software stack
  • Developing and customizing our Nvidia Jetpack based platform and OS.
  • Building data pipelines and tools to enable our ML-development flywheel
  • Developing software to enable remote diagnostics, recovery and control of autonomous robots
  • Building visualization tools for analyzing and debugging robot behavior
  • Designing and developing software interfaces to enable hardware testing and manufacturing processes.
