The Corporate Information Services Department is seeking a Software Engineer II – AI Solutions. This role involves designing, building, and deploying AI-driven capabilities within complex healthcare environments. The Software Engineer II will collaborate with senior engineers, clinicians, and operational teams to translate real-world problems into secure, scalable, and maintainable software. Key aspects of the role include implementing AI/programmatic assisted workflows, assisting in cloud platform maintenance, and integrating AI models into production systems that support critical healthcare operations. This position is suited for an individual who excels in hands-on engineering, problem-solving in the field, and direct collaboration with end users to deliver high-impact solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  • 3+ years of experience in AI/ML or backend development, ideally within healthcare or regulated industries
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Java, or JavaScript/Typescript
  • Experience with machine learning tools such as Pytorch, Tensorflow, Langchain, or Keras
  • Basic understanding of healthcare standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM) and data privacy regulations (HIPAA, GDPR)
  • Experience with SQL & NoSQL databases for healthcare data storage and retrieval
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Oracle Cloud, Palantir, Databricks)
  • Familiarity with Observability tools such as Graphana, Datadog, or Langfuse
  • Knowledge of microservices architecture, containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with Large Language Models and has used them in a production environment
  • Experience in CI/CD pipelines, DevOps, and automated deployment strategies
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot software and cloud platform level issues
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate across teams
  • Travel Requirements: 5%

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience in designing and maintaining scalable architecture is a plus
  • Experience with the Palantir/Oracle Cloud platform is a plus, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Works hands-on with clinicians, analysts, and operational teams to understand workflows, gather requirements, and translate ambiguous real-world problems into concrete technical solutions
  • Iterates quickly based on user feedback
  • Develops and Implements AI/ML solutions for our operational and clinical customers with guidance from senior engineers
  • Supports compliance efforts by following HIPAA, GDPR, and healthcare standards (HL7, FHIR, DICOM)
  • Designs and implements comprehensive test suites to assess the performance of deployed machine learning applications
  • Ensures the reliability, performance, and operational continuity of AI platforms
  • Monitors system health, manages, resolves integration issues, and maintains secure access controls
  • Proactively identify bottlenecks, optimize resource usage, and implement improvements that keep mission-critical healthcare workflows running smoothly with minimal downtime
  • Participates in code reviews and team discussions to improve development best practices
  • Stays updated on healthcare AI trends and emerging technologies
  • Design and implement AI-driven capabilities that solve real operational problems in healthcare
  • Build inference pipelines, integrate models into production systems, develop interfaces, ensuring reliability, observability, and maintainability
  • Develop scalable and modular software architectures that integrate ML models into healthcare systems
  • Ensure the reliability, performance, and operational continuity of AI platforms
  • Collaborate with compliance teams to stay updated on evolving regulations
  • Pinpoint areas for enhancement and work closely with data scientists to optimize model accuracy
  • Work closely with senior engineers, product managers, and healthcare professionals to align AI driven solutions with clinical workflows and healthcare IT needs
  • Provide feedback to peers, incorporate best practices, and engage in discussions on improving solution reliability and maintainability
  • Diagnose and resolve software errors, performance bottlenecks, and security vulnerabilities, ensuring high availability of healthcare services
  • Research emerging technologies, frameworks, and integration patterns to recommend improvements in AI development strategies
