About The Position

Raytheon is seeking a Software Engineer I (Embedded / Radar) to join their product development team for the Gen4 Tactical Airborne Radar group in El Segundo, CA. This role involves working on technical problems, providing innovative solutions, and participating in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including software/hardware integration. The engineer will develop real-time embedded software, troubleshoot issues, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and support technical decision-making to ensure performance against technical, cost, schedule, and quality objectives. The position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance, including "special access programs" (SAP/SAR).

Requirements

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred).
  • A minimum of 1 year of progressive experience in embedded software development.
  • Development experience coding in C/C++/ADA or related languages/tools in radar-development software is required.
  • Experience working on UNIX, Linux, Windows, VxWorks or other RTOS.
  • Experience working in an agile/scrum team hyper-collaborative team environment using typical agile oriented tool suite.
  • Introductory Experience with design, code, integration, and test of software into a large software baseline and large system.
  • Must be able to obtain DoD Secret Clearance; US Citizenship is mandatory to acquire and maintain Security clearances.
  • Must be able to obtain "special access programs" (SAP/SAR) for continuation of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Current DoD Secret and Top Secret Clearance.
  • Experience developing Radar Software applications.
  • Direct experience with Agile methodologies.
  • Analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot tool and system operation performance issues.
  • Experience with large complex systems such as airborne radars.

Responsibilities

  • Work on technical problems and provide innovative solutions, with guidance as needed.
  • Work at all phases of the SW development lifecycle, including SW/HW integration.
  • Develop RT embedded SW, specifically pertaining to various radar modes and capabilities.
  • Utilize investigation and troubleshooting skills to assess issues and develop solutions.
  • Work with teams across multiple disciplines, internal and external.
  • Join program and customer meetings/reviews.
  • Support team leads as needed regarding technical decision making and problem resolution.
  • Help to ensure performance to technical, cost, schedule, quality.
  • Support of system and software requirements and architecture generation and analysis as needed.
