About The Position

Planview is seeking an early-career Software Engineer I to join its Portfolio Intelligence team and help build the Insight Engine, a system that runs insights using data science and large language models. Working with experienced engineers and data scientists, the role contributes to cloud-native engineering and agentic systems using C# on AWS. The engineer will implement features and fixes, support services that run and evaluate insights, and bring data-science work into production. Work will grow in complexity and independence over time, with senior engineers providing mentorship and code review. The role offers experience with .NET Orleans, AWS Bedrock, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, and GenAI-powered development tools. The engineer will learn to design highly available, scalable cloud services and address issues such as non-deterministic LLM output, evaluation quality, latency, and governance. The position also involves collaborating with senior engineers, product managers, and data scientists, participating in team discussions and code reviews, and communicating progress and blockers. As part of Planview’s “You Build It, You Run It” culture, the engineer will participate in supported on-call rotations and learn production operations, incident response, monitoring, and alerting.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in C# or a similar object-oriented language, such as Java.
  • Basic understanding of SQL and relational databases.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms, preferably AWS, through coursework, personal projects, or prior experience.
  • Exposure to working with LLMs in agentic development, such as building agents or using agentic coding tools, through work, coursework, or personal projects.
  • Familiarity with Git and basic software development practices, including code review and automated testing.
  • Foundational knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and learn production operations practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience calling LLM APIs, designing prompts, or writing evaluations.
  • Experience with Python and the .NET Orleans framework.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, CI/CD, Docker, and containerization concepts.
  • Interest in Generative AI and experience using AI-powered coding assistants such as GitHub Copilot or Claude Code for learning and productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to components of the Insight Engine, including services that run insights and systems that evaluate them.
  • Work on well-defined cloud engineering and agentic systems tasks using C# on AWS.
  • Implement features and fixes under the guidance of senior engineers, writing clean, testable code that meets team standards.
  • Work with data scientists to bring their work into production.
  • Develop proficiency with the team’s technology stack, including .NET Orleans, AWS Bedrock, PostgreSQL, and Snowflake.
  • Participate in team meetings, code reviews, and technical discussions; seek feedback and communicate progress, blockers, and learning.
  • Participate in supported on-call rotations and learn production operations, incident handling, monitoring, and alerting.

Benefits

  • Four company-wide paid Unplugged Days per year.
  • Generous PTO offerings, region dependent.
  • Region-specific benefit plans, including parental leave, retirement, medical plans, wellness support, and remote work support.
  • Paid time to volunteer through Planview’s Force for Good Week.
  • Employee referral bonus program.
