About The Position

Design, code, implement, and test simulation software for simulator training devices and other similar applications that satisfy specified operational, performance, and interface requirements. Responsible for software development lifecycle, including design, development, integration, verification, and documentation tasks, while adhering to budget and schedule constraints.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, physics, or equivalent; or 3 years related, practical experience, preferably in simulation; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Background must demonstrate a thorough knowledge of the sciences underlying software engineering.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. DoD security clearance.
  • Proficiency in speaking, reading and writing in English.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common professional and industry relevant technical literature.
  • Ability to correspond professionally, effectively, and efficiently with coworkers, subcontractors, customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community in person and in a virtual team environment.
  • Ability to effectively present technical information to colleagues, management, and customers.
  • Ability to develop technical documentation such as software design documents, interface documents, test procedures, and user manuals.
  • Ability to comprehend, calculate and apply principles of business math.
  • Ability to comprehend and apply modern algebra, Boolean algebra, trigonometry, calculus, ratios, and percentages.
  • Solid Technology skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office applications are essential.
  • Experienced and proficient in the use of standard personal computer software tools, including word processors, spreadsheets, presentation graphics, Virtual meetings, team collaboration software, project tracking, and databases.
  • Ability to develop and debug computer source code and application software written in various languages such as C/C++/C#, Python, Fortran, and Ada.
  • Ability to learn new programming languages.
  • Ability to use software and data configuration management tools such as GIT and Subversion.
  • Usage of both Microsoft Windows and Linux Operating Systems.
  • Understanding of computer networking concepts.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Proficient in planning, coordinating, and booking travel airfare, hotel accommodations, and rental cars.
  • Ability to identify and define problems, gather and analyze relevant data, establish facts, and draw valid, logical conclusions.
  • The ability to remain in a stationary position for part of the time, and to occasionally move around the office.
  • Operating a computer, keyboard and telephone, as well as handling or feeling other objects.
  • Accessing files and other items.
  • Close vision and color vision for computer work.
  • Moving small items and possibly lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds. Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Regular, predictable attendance is required.
  • Accessing simulator components in areas that cannot be accessed in sitting or standing position.
  • Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
  • Ability to work in a confined area.
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.
  • Occasionally exposed to cold server equipment rooms or hot unconditioned simulator bay.
  • May occasionally be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, electrical hazards, moving machinery, and vibration.

Responsibilities

  • Review program specifications and applicable standards with project and systems engineers to identify and evaluate interface requirements between software and hardware.
  • Participate in defining, deriving, and decomposing requirements, and developing preliminary and detailed software design approaches that comply with project requirements.
  • Identify and manage technical risks proactively to mitigate potential issues and control costs.
  • Write software code that complies with detailed design specifications using C, Fortran, and/or other high order programming languages.
  • Perform subsystem implementation test, integration test, and acceptance test of design products to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Troubleshoot software issues to identify and solve problems.
  • Participate in installation, acceptance, and delivery of training devices to various world-wide locations.
  • Coordinate with Program Management, Software, Hardware, and Manufacturing personnel as necessary to accomplish development, design, and production of the project.
  • End products will consist of proposals, reports, specifications, design documents, source code, and test procedures as required for the subject project.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by supervisor.
